Khirsu is a tiny village very close to Pauri which is often regarded as one of the prettiest picnic spots in the Garhwal region. The way to Khirsu offers breath-taking views and if you are a hardened traveller then you should ideally walk all the way up to Khisru which would take less than an hour from Pauri. Khirsu has dense oak forests and lovely meadows with exotic birds all around.
The Kandoliya Temple is located on the road connecting Pauri to Landsdowne. This temple which is named after a local deity called Kandoliya is extremely popular among the residents of this region. The annual fair which is held at the temple complex is often visited by people from all over the state. These days tourists are also known to visit the Kandoliya Temple because of its proximity to the Ransi Stadium which is the highest stadium in the country. Surrounded by dense forests and high peaks this stadium also serves as a superb picnic destination.
Chaukhamba View Point
Situated just around 5 Kms from Pauri town, the Chaukhamba View Point offers a perfect view of the majestic peaks, oak forests and lights of the town of Pauri. Kyunkaleshwar Mahadev Temple
A shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, this temple is like a tiny housing located amidst the lush Himalayan forests. Constructed back in the 8th century, Adi Shankaracharya is said to have laid the foundation of this structure. This historic temple which houses Shiva, Parvati and their sons are visited by thousands of devotees from all over. The intricate stone works of the temple along with the lovely surroundings make this place a must-visit spot in Pauri.
The highest tourist destination in Pauri, the Tara Kund is situated at a height of 2250 meters. Tara Kund consists of an ancient temple and a little fresh water pool making this spot a perfect place to visit. The trek from Pauri to Tara Kund also offers mind-blowing views which are not to be missed.
