Various species of the Faran plant can be found growing in the alpine meadows of Uttarakhand.
Aloo ke Ghutke peppered with Faran is one of the most mouth-watering dishes of Uttarakhand which is usually served with hot chappatis. Faran is a super tasty spice which can be used in a host of Indian dishes including dal and vegetables.
